John E. DuBois brings decades of distinguished experience in public service, litigation, governmental affairs, and legal counseling. A graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1980, John also holds a dual major in Economics and Political Science from Vanderbilt University. While at Vanderbilt, he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Eta Sigma, and Omicron Delta Epsilon.

Throughout his career, John has served in numerous high-level legal and governmental positions across New Mexico and the United States. His experience includes serving as an Assistant District Attorney in both Albuquerque and Santa Fe, Prison Riot Prosecutor in Santa Fe, Chief Counsel to the Governor’s Organized Crime Commission, Assistant Attorney General for the State of New Mexico, and Chief Counsel for the New Mexico Human Services Department. He also served as a trial attorney for the United States Department of Justice in the Organized Crime and Racketeering Division, including assignments with the Los Angeles Strike Force and Main Justice in Washington, D.C.

In addition to his extensive government service, John has maintained a private practice in Albuquerque and has held several leadership positions within municipal government, including Assistant City Attorney and Director of the Civil Rights Division for the City of Albuquerque, Chief Trial Counsel for the New Mexico Risk Management Division, and Assistant City Attorney in the Real Estate and Land Use Division.

John’s professional interests extend beyond the practice of law into education, rhetoric, science, and the arts. He served as CEO of Einstein’s Bicycle, a math, science, and Latin tutoring service, and was the first President of The American Shakespeare Project. He has also been active in public speaking and professional development as President of the Barristers Toastmasters Club.

A frequent lecturer and presenter, John has provided trainings and continuing legal education presentations for numerous professional organizations and agencies, including the New Mexico Municipal Attorneys Association, New Mexico Defense Lawyers Association, ABA Section of Real Property, Trust & Estate Law, Albuquerque Police Academy, FBI Academy, and the City of Albuquerque Planning Department.

John is a member of several professional and academic organizations, including the Rhetoric Society of America, the Mathematical Association of America, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Sherlock Holmes Society of London.
